Sources of data collection
There are two important sources viz (i) Primary and (ii) Secondary sources. Primary Sources: Primary sources are the original sources from which data are collected directly. Eg: Collection of data directly from the sample drawn from the population for the study. Secondary Sources: These are sources containing data that have been collected and compiled for another purpose. The secondary sources consist of readily available records or compendia and already compiled statistical statements or reports. Period of compilation of the data is an important parameter to be considered for deciding the utility of the data for our research purpose. Recent/fresh secondary data have more value. |
