Radio talk
It is one of the quickest way of communicating technical information to the fisherfolk. It involves 5 steps they are - Selection of topic - Collection of facts - Preparing outline - Build –up –script Selection of Topic Know the coverage zone of the radio station and identify the topic relevant to the fisherfolk of that area. Topic related to season and timely information is preferred for the radio programmes. Collection of facts Collect all the facts which are related to the selected topic. Use the real experience and success stories of fisher folk. Use quotations and the recent research findings on the topic Preparing outline Know the duration of time allotted for the talk and prepare the speech according to the allotted time. A single page type in double spacing is sufficient for 2 minutes talk. A 10 min radio talk is ideal. Treat the message according to the level of audience. Build up script The script should be brief, clear and awaken the attention and interest of the fisher folk. Write the script with empathy. Scientific words should be translated in the local vernacular language. Write the script in single side of the paper. Re-hearse and recheck the pre recorded talk. Critically analyse your presentation by listening to the recorded talk. Correct the pronouncation. Adjust the length of the script if need be. The first 30 seconds are critical period to catch the listener's attention. Be natural, friendly and converstional. The speed of the speech should be at an average of 125 words per minute. |
