Guiding Principles of Learning

  1. Learning should be meaningful and satifying. Motivation is necessary for effective learning.
  2. The learner must find his present behaviour unsatisfactory for himself. Before learning, the learner must feel difficulty due to ignorance or inability to do a piece of work. This stage of condition will motivate him to take interest in learning.
  3. Learning is growth like and continuous. Teaching should be based on maturation level of learner.
  4. Learning takes place best in an atmosphere of incentive and opportunity, not in an environment of punishment.
  5. Frequently the learner needs guidance or supervision in the new behaviour he tires.
  6. The learner must have opportunity to practice the new behaviour.
  7. The learner learns best of :
    1. The learners are interested in learning
    2. The learner’s needs are satisfied by learning
    3. The learners are provided with active participation in the learning process
    4. Thinking is stimulated on the part of learner
    5. The learner uses tow or more senses in learning
  8. The learner must derive satisfaction in the desirable behaviour. The learning should be satisfying and attainable by the learner in his own situation.
  9. Learning is self active process. Learning depends upon the extent to which or how actively the learner participates.
  10. Evaluation is aessand in the learning process to know the progress made
  11. The variation in learning abilities of the learner must be taken into consideration
