PRECIPITATION BY SALTS

• To 2 ml of the protein solution, add saturated ammonium sulphate solution drop by drop.
• Ammonium sulphate competes for water of salvation of proteins, thus favoring protein –
• protein interaction, leading to the precipitation of proteins.
• This method of precipitating the proteins is called “Salting Out”.
