Binomics of larvae

BINOMICS OF LARVAE

  • Usually 4 moults or ecdyes (L1, L2, L3, and L4) occurs in nematode.
  • During moulting, the old cuticle is replaced by new one. The L1 and L2 feed on bacteria.
  • L3 can’t feed because the cuticle of L2 retained as a protective sheath around L3 larvae (infective stage).
  • In most of the nematode species, L3 is the infective stage where as in Ascarid L2 is considered as a infective stage.
