• Active in summer, remain long periods on the host, not inclined to fly although they are strong fliers, usually leave the host to larviposit only
• They cluster in hundreds in the perineal region, under the tail, between the hind legs to the pubic region. Female fly does not lay eggs but it deposits the larvae singly in dry soil
