  • Bite horizontally
  • Abdomen clothed with stiff slender spine

Effect on the host

  • Animal restless, pull hairs, hairless patches seen in affected dogs, sick appearance, condition of the animal goes down and looks emaciated
  • Feeds on blood and tissue of dog
  • Transmits filarid nematode- Dipetalonema reconditum
