COLLECTION OF TICKS

  • Feeding engorged larvae, nymph and adult can be removed carefully from the host
  • Care should be taken to remove mouthparts of tick undamaged since the mouthparts are firmly embedded in the host’s skin
  • A useful method is to grip the ‘ head ‘ firmly, but lightly, by means of forceps, turn the tick over on its back and then pull out sharply, perpendicularly away from the skin
