Double-sided comb design

DOUBLE-SIDED COMB DESIGN

  • The most widely used is the simple rectangular design with a long service area (corridor) running down the centre of the pens. Each pen has its own run extending outwards on both sides of the central service corridor. This is, appropriately, called the "double-sided comb design'.
  • Attached to the service corridor is a feed storage area. The length of each run is no less than three times the length of the covered area, to ensure that the birds have plenty of exercise. This design is particularly suitable for birds from the age of three to 16 months (depending on the area of each run).
