Alligation medial

ALLIGATION MEDIAL

  • If the concentration of a new solution formed by mixing solutions of known strengths is to be found, the weighted average percentage can be applied.
  • In this, the individual volumes are multiplied with their respective strengths ( weighted percentage). The total volume is added up.
  • The ratio of the weighted percentage to the total volume gives the concentration of the final solution. This method is called ‘alligation medial’.
