CONTROL AND PREVENTION

  • Neutralization by polyvalent antiserum is effective.
  • Therapeutic agents such as tetraethylamide and guanidine hydrochloride, which enhance transmitter release at neuromuscular junctions, may be of value when given intravenously.
  • Immunization is not followed. In South Africa attempts were made by giving two injections of types C and D toxoid at an interval of several weeks.
  • Bivalent & Trivalent antitoxins are available.
