Intravenous injection

INTRAVENOUS INJECTION

  • Intravenous cannulation of the cephalic vein for obtaining blood samples or injecting medication may be performed while holding the cat by the lateral recumbency.
  • The jugular vein may be cannulated with the cat’s head held vertically or with the cat lying on its back.
  • Both methods should be practiced, because one cat accept on placement more readily than the other, with majority being more comfortable on the back.
