LIZARDS
  • Some lizards have lost their limbs in the evolution processes, like retaining of part of the hind limbs by some snakes. Lizards are most widely distributed and are able to adapt to wide range of habitats. Periodical renewing of skin occurs like snakes.
  • The lizards differ from snakes in having eyelids and an obvious ear opening. This comprises house geckos, garden lizards, chameleons, Iguanas, monitor lizards etc. Growth of lizards is slow. Large geckos, monitors, iguanas live for about 10-20 years.
