ADMINISTRATION OF DRUGS

• What ever the technique adapted in case of adult elephants, the same may be adapted.
• However, take care of the medications that are given by sub-cutaneously or by intravenous route in ear veins. If the medicament is irritating one, this may lead to soughing of ears subsequently.

Routes

• Oral route may be chosen like any other simple-stomached wild animal
• I/V : Ear veins
• I/M: Gluteal region or thigh where muscle mass is felt
• S/C : Anal fold region or skin at the neck
