APPAREL MANUFACTURING – II 3(3+0)

Lesson 34 : Commercial techniques of fabrication

Steam Press

Regular steam pressing machines are not designated for fusing although some fusibles are produced for use on these machines. Pressing machines have some serious limitations regarding fusing

  • Inability to reach the heat levels required by majority of resins
  • Shape and size of bucks restrict size of components that can be fused
  • Most utility machines are not fitted with programme controls, which means entire process is operator controlled
  • If the resin is activated by steam heat, the same thing can happen when garments are pressed during production. Hence, this situation can cause serius problems.
