7.4.1.2.Minimum durability
As determined by the manufacturer or processor, the duration for which the product will retain its quality both in terms of safety and spoilage must be given for foods. With a shelf life of more than 6 months but less than 18 months and should be expressed as “Sell by” or “best before” date in terms of month and year. Shelf life upto 6 weeks, should include day and month (+ sign is an indication of period for which food will retain its properties under the storage conditions).
