10.1.9 Migration

The change in gene frequency due to migration depends on the preparation of individuals that enter into the population and their gene frequency. If q is the initial gene frequency of the population, q_m is the gene frequency in the immigrants and ‘m’ is the proportion of immigrants entering into the population, the change in gene frequency due to migration is q = m (q_m-q).
