6.1.2. Food and feeding
Penaeids are mostly omnivorous feeding at the muddy bottom. Food consists detritus of plant matter like diatoms, planktonic algae and bits of seaweeds and the animal matter like copepods, ostracods, amphipods, other smaller crustaceans, molluscan larvae, polychaetes, foraminiforans etc.
