Introduction

The term communication is freely used by everyone in modern society, including members of the general public, scholars and management practitioners. Communication as you ahead know is, giving & taking of information and sending & receiving of messages through verbal and non verbal means. One of the functions of communication which humanity has developed to their extreme social advantage is that of communicating to some living aspect of the environment (such as a person) in order to establish, maintain, exploit or alter the relationship with that person. Functions of communication have been categorized based on the context of the social scientists

The basic functions of communication according to Thayer 1968 fall under four broad categories:
