Ways of PR operations: Public Relations in India and also in other countries is operationalized in 3 ways both in government and in private sector.

  • Some organizations have exclusive in- house P.R departments manned by their own staff, other organizations entirely depend on external PR consultancy or firm for internal and external public.
  • The third category of PR structure is the combination of in – house PR department and the use of an external PR firm.
  • Freelance public relations are other public relations. Freelancer acts as proprietor who will have direct contact with the head of the organization.
  • It is a one man operation, freelancer personally involves in all matters but the experience and the educational background is essential to undertake the functions of PR manager.

Departments and job titles

    1. The names of in- house PR departments vary from organizations to organizations as public relations or corporate public relations or corporate communications or corporate relations or publicity or public communications information etc.
    2. common job titles include public relation officer, information officer, public relations manager, chief (pr)manager, general manager,(pr)chief general manager, (pr)chief public relation officer, director (pr), chief manager(corporate communications)mass media officer, commissioner(pr) etc.
