Introduction

  • Design is the determination of the character of an object to serve a certain purpose known in advance.
  • Design refers to the manner in which objects are artificially arranged in order to achieve a particular objective.
  • This objective involves both a functional and a visibly pleasing arrangement.
  • Designing a outdoor garden depends upon the architecture of the house.
  • A plan should be drafted that could be merging with the house or a well demarcated from the house.
  • Designing a outdoor landscape is an art.
  • By using art elements according to principles of design the landscape designer develops appropriate, functional and beautiful landscape design.

Landscape designs are made by aesthetically using the art elements, the visible features of the objects namely line, form, colour and texture by using long established value judgments called design principles such as balance, rhythm, emphasis and harmony.
