Picture plane

It is an imaginary plane located between the station point and the ground plane on which the perspective is projected. The position of the picture plane is relative to the object which determines the size of the view. The picture plane (PP) is the plane that is used to record the 'picture' or 'drawing' that the eye sees. (Figure – 2)
It is easiest to think of the picture plane as being a sheet of glass, and the observer having a marking pen that can trace onto the glass exactly what their eye sees.
