PRENATING

• It means milking of heifers and cows before actual parturition. It is done in heavy milkers when udder becomes very much distended before parturition. But milking before birth of calves tends to delay the onset of parturition for about a week.

Advantages

• However, it is helpful in automatic prevention of all evils of udder.
• Provides proper milch temperament to cow.
• After calving such heifers are less likely to get excited, develop a nervous disposition, habit of kicking or become a problematic milker.
