Hard or slow milker

HARD OR SLOW MILKER

  • Some cows are hard or slow to milk especially at first calving. Such cows are characterized by
    • Rough and thick skin, tough, like tanned leather.
    • Abnormally small teat opening.
    • Growth on lining membrane of teat canal near the orifice or part above close to udder.
    • Narrow teat canal due to infection and injury. Judicious milking or suckling the calf usually improves the condition.
