Leaky cow/soft milker

LEAKY COW/SOFT MILKER

  • This is generally seen in heavy milkers, which is characterized by
    • Dripping or streaming of milk from udder before milking time or when parturition is imminent.
    • When milking has been unduly delayed.
    • During first few weeks after calving.
  • Cows with very soft pliable teats having wide streak canal. Though it gradually diminishes with progressive lactational period and may cease entirely after few weeks following remedial measures should be adoptedĀ
    • Milk such cows on time-3 or 4 times a day.
    • Do not apply rubber band on teat.
    • Do not tie off the teats with tape.
    • Paint the opening in the end of the teat with Tr. iodine to make it contract slightly.
    • Inject saturated solution of alum just inside the teat opening.
