Extrusion process

Extrusion process involves-

  1. Cleaning of grains
  2. Milling to remove seed coats
  3. Grinding into flour of desired particle size.
  4. Blending with spice and condiments.
  5. The flour blend is mixed with water and steam in a mixer.
  6. Extruded through a die in extruder in the form of noodles.
  7. Cut into desired size.
  8. Dried and cooled to ambient conditions.
  9. Edible oil is sprayed on the product along with spices/flavors/taste imparting materials under controlled conditions.
  10. Packed in moisture proof/gas proof pouches of right thickness with inert gas like nitrogen.
  11. In the manufacture of products with predominant sweetness, some sugar has to be blended with flour before extrusion.
  12. Sugar syrup is sprayed on extruded food and dried.
