Values/ Uses of Records

  • Helps the teacher to assess the child’s rate of development better (in terms of progress or regress) to find out reasons and to take steps to overcome the set-back.
  • Helps the teacher in guiding the behaviour and planning the education of the individual child by understanding the individual differences among children.
  • Useful for planning curriculum effectively. Because curriculum planning needs information on needs, interests and abilities of the child.
  • Helps the teacher to determine the readiness of the children for school.
  • Helps to improve the techniques used by the staff.
  • Helps to evaluate programmes, methods and outcomes in relation to the objectives of the school.
  • Helps in planning parent education programmes.
  • Helps the doctor and other specialists in understanding the child.
  • Serve as devices for teaching students who are preparing themselves to work in ECE centers.
  • Well maintained records are useful for conducting research on child growth and development.
