Important characteristics of an early childhood teacher

The early childhood teacher should possess the following qualities/ characteristics.

1. She should not be too young or too old
   
2. She should have a positive attitude towards her work
   
3. She should be unprejudiced
   
4. She should be patient and understanding
   
5. She should be resourceful
   
6. She should be alert, active and attentive
   
7. She should be tactful in her dealings with parents
   
8. She should be pleasant and cheerful
   
9. She should have the knowledge of child development and child psychology
   
10. She should respect the individuality of the child
    
11. She should have thirst for knowledge and love for the profession
    
12. She should be punctual and systematic in her planning ECE programmes
    
13. She should have good physical and emotional health
    
14. She should be progressive and enthusiastic
    
15. She should provide good counseling to parents and value their idea
    
16. She should share ideas and knowledge with other staff
    
17. She should participate in local professional organizations related to the welfare of children
