Importance of Recreation

The word ‘recreation’ implies, recreation of the individual through contribute use of leisure time activities affording relaxation, release from torsions freedom to be one’s own self. Recreation is activity engaged is during leisure-time and primarily motivated by the satisfaction and pleasure desired from it. The recreation has to be organized on a planned basis to meet the basic home needs of children such as is needed for activity, enjoyment and Joy, fun, sociability, group acceptance, recognition and status venturing new experiments and creativity and expression.

Recreation is to be provided, taking into consideration the cultural patterns, need of the community, the age groups, gender represented is the group, availability of existing facilities and the resources. Recreation should be directed at developing initiative and self reliance in the children. It also involves cooperation of parents, teachers, medical practitioners, community leaders, municipalities etc.
