Scheme for Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drugs) Abuse

Objectives:

  1. To create awareness and educate the people about the ill-effects of alcoholism and substance abuse on the individual, the family and the society at large
  2. To evolve culture-specific models for the prevention of alcoholism and substance and the treatment and rehabilitation of addicts.
  3. To provide for the whole range of community based services for the identification, motivation, counseling, de-addiction, after care and rehabilitation of addicts.
  4. To promote collective initiatives and self-held endeavors among individuals and groups vulnerable to addiction or found at risk and to increase community participation.

Eligibility:

  • A registered voluntary organization shall be eligible for assistance and it should ordinarily have existed at least for a period of 3 years
  • It should have a properly constituted managing body with its powers, duties and responsibilities clearly defined and laid down in a written constitution
  • It should ordinarily have been engaged in the field of drug eradication, treatment & rehabilitation activities for minimum period of two years prior to the request for grant-in-aid.
  • Its financial position should be sound.
  • It should have facilities, resources, experience for under taking the programme.
  • It should not run for profit to any individual or a body of individuals.
