Religious Buildings

The architecture of religious buildings differs with the religion. Some of the most common religious buildings are.

  1. Temple
    A building designed for the system of worship of a deity or deities.Religious Buildings
  2. Church
    A building especially designed for the cult and ceremonies of the Christian religion.
  3. Mosque
    A religious building or temple dedicated to the Muslim faith.
  4. Synagogue
    A building dedicated to the teaching and cult of the Jewish religion.
  5. Abbey
    A building or set of buildings distributed in a manner such as to be inhabited by a religious order under the rule of an abbot or abbess.

Apart from the above classifications based on the type of architecture the buildings can be classified as below.

  1. Low-rise building A building of two or three floors, usually without an elevator.

  3. Mid-rise building A building having roughly between 5 and 10 floors , generally equipped with elevators.

  4. High-rise building / skyscraper A building with a considerable number of floors, equipped with elevators; generally built in a densely populated area where the cost of land is high.

  5. Block A group of buildings, of similar or different types, usually occupying a roughly rectangular piece of urban land surrounded by streets.

  6. Loft building
    A building with several floors of undivided interior space, formely used for industrial activities.

  7. Edifice
    A building characterized by size and symbolic or ornamental importance.
