For cupboards that are areas enclosed by floor-to-ceiling doors, the shelves and drawers are fitted into free-standing units inside.
A top shelf for the cupboard can be supported by two tall units, and small units can be used below short handing clothes. A hanging rail is normally fixed below the top shelf, supported by brackets fixed to the tall units at each end and to the shelf above. Hanging clothes can be heavy – long runs of rail need to be supported about every 750 mm. (2 ft 6 in.).
