Colour

Colour combinations with plant material

Colour is the visual sensation produced by different wavelengths of light.

  • Colour may be described in terms of it’s hue (Red, blue, yellow), value (light versus dark) and its intensity, or chroma (its saturation of brilliance).
  • Colour and tone creates varieties of responses
  • Colour creates depth (blue colour), nearness (red colour) feeling of warmness or coolness.
  • Considering colour in developing a landscape design can be an exciting adventure.
  • For successful use of colour the landscape designer should understand certain fundamental facts, such as the qualities and properties of colour, the classification of colours, the light reflection expected of colours and its association with various other colours
