Workplaces are a major part of the team that is needed to accomplish household tasks. The quality of the design of the workplace in terms of requirements of the task and of the worker has an important effect on the ease with which the action is accomplished. The problem of relating task and worker requirements for design of workplace is described by the term functional design.
