Lesson 12 : Wall Elements – Built-In Space Storage

Functional Storage

Ample storage space is critical to any home. Without the correct cupboards or storage solutions in place, an individual is never able to get organized and have their items neatly packed or stored away. For years built in cupboards have been used in bedrooms and they are built in such a way that they offer ample hanging and shelf space. Unlike the stand alone or free standing wardrobes, the built in cupboards cannot be moved, they are attached to the wall (hence their name)! Usually the cupboards are built into areas which are considered to be wasted or unusable space. To this end, the built in cupboards are smart ways to use space and to create practical and valuable storage space.

Unlike the freestanding wardrobes, the built in cupboards are relatively plain and consist of either drawer space within the built in cupboards, or packing shelves. The other half of the cupboards is fitted with a rail which accommodates hanging clothing. The built in cupboards have been designed with a single purpose and that is to save space, and provide adequate storage. The built in cupboards are however, not only limited to a bedroom, but in fact modern buildings are opting to have built in cupboards installed in their dens, office rooms, personal rooms These cupboards are then used to store items for daily, occasionally or rare use.
