Principles of design

An introduction
The principles of design are described as:

Thus principles of design work as process wherein the relationships of the elements are governed to organize the composition as a whole. Also they represent the product as a result of organization of the elements of the design for a purpose and visual goals. The principles of design have following characteristics:

  • flexible in nature
  • have their own level of power

They can be applied structurally or decoratively to influence the various aspects of design. Each principle of design also conveys messages.

Types of design principles

The five major principles of design as follows:

  1. Proportion
  2. Balance
  3. Rhythm
  4. Emphasis
  5. Harmony
