Drafting is a step by step procedure of garment designing. For this, firstly the design is analyzed carefully. All the required material for making drafting is collected. The work is started on the rough side of brown paper, placing it on a flat surface. After carefully analyzing the design features like; type of sleeve, color, neckline, yoke, buttons, facings etc, planning is done. Then all required measurements are taken carefully and recorded on the paper. On the paper a draft is made based on the design and measurements. This draft creation needs knowledge, experience and creativity. All the draft pieces are marked for darts and notches cut separately carefully. These pieces do not include seam allowances. The draft of one side is made and traced for opposite side or directly cut on the fabric by keeping the draft of one side on fold. The layout of draft is made on the fabric and finally fabric is cut for the sewing purpose.
