Lesson 8 : Sleeves

Different styles of sleeves or classification of sleeves

There are many different styles of sleeve, Some of these styles have definite names, e.g. Bishop sleeve, Bell-shaped sleeve, etc., but the majority can only be described in a general way by referring to their fit (tight, loose, shaped), their length (short, three-quarter, elbow-length, etc.), their outline or shape (e.g. full at shoulder, widening round elbow, narrowing towards the wrist, etc.) or to style details such as cuffs, openings and trimmings.

There are two fundamental types of sleeve:

  1. The Straight sleeves and

  2. The Shaped sleeves.
