Selection of pocket design

Selection of the Pocket designs is based on the type of garment to be stitched. The pocket design depends on the type of the garment but only the variety in pocket design can be altered in a garment.

  1. Patch pockets
    • Patch pockets are used to create design interest on all sorts of garments like skirts, blouses, shirts, jackets and children garments. The size and placement of the pocket is determined primarily by convenience. This type of pockets is suitable for light weight and medium weight fabrics and is designed in a number of sizes and shapes like square, rectangular, pointed, or curved, patch pocket with self flap, patch pocket with separate flap, lined, partially lined or unlined.
    • Unlined patch pockets are most often used on casual clothes such as jeans, shirts and aprons.
  2. Inseam pockets
    • In seam pockets are suitable for trousers, half pants and skirts.
    • They are generally made of lining fabric or light weight self fabric
  3. Set-in pockets/ inserted pockets
    • Welt and flap pockets are suitable in tailored jackets and coats.
    • Bound or corded pockets is suitable for trousers
