Lesson 19: Components of Knitting

Components of knitting

The primary element of knitting is the hooked metal needle. There are different types of needles used on the knitting machines, each contributing to the fabric type. All needles must have some mechanism of closing the needle hook in order to hold the loop, while pulling it through the new loop formed. It is also a self-action needle in which the latch opens and closes without the aid of any other element on the knitting machine.
