Diffusion and adoption

Lesson 45 : Process of Homestead Technology Development

Diffusion and adoption

Diffusion is a process related to adoption of an innovation in the entire system. Farm women themselves, through their kinship groups and other social systems constitute a powerful force for diffusing innovation. They facilitate or impede diffusion after taking into consideration the various attributes of innovation. Some innovations diffuse from its first introduction while others may require longer time. If farm women are not able to adopt an innovation in their own system, either due to its functionality or complexity of the practice then they can convey the same to extension functionaries, researchers, and generations of technologies for further modifications.
