Spleen

Spleen

The main elements of spleen are the ellipsoids, the pulp and the melanomacrophage centres. Ellipsoids are thick walled filter capillaries which results from the division of splenic arterioles. Each comprises a thick basement membrane. The splenic pulp consists of sinusoidal phagocytic tissue. Melanomacrophage centres are usually located close to a vessel and have a fine reticulin limiting layer.
