Best way to secure a rope to a spar or post after tightening it, if no slack back is desired

It is one of the most useful hitches and is probably used more often than any other knot to secure the end of a line. It will hold as long as there is a strain on the line, but once the strain is removed a hitch should be checked and tightened to prevent the end from pulling out when the strain is reapplied. To make the hitch more secure after tying it, add a half hitch around the standing part. : It is one of the most useful hitches, and is probably used more often than any other knot to secure the end of a line.
