Male and female cannot be distinguished externally. There is a pair of gonads present over the intestine and hepatopancreas. Duct arising from the gonads opens as gonophores located at the anterior end of the gills.

Transparent gonad, Oocyte size is 60 x 47.5 µ Gametogonic materials begin to appear.

Mature

Gonads yellowish cream in females. Oocyte size is 68 x 50µ. Average nucleus size is 25 µ.

Partially spawned

Gonad becomes loose. Oocyte size is 51.7 µ.

Spent
