Detection of Fibrin by Carmine Fibrin Method

DETECTION OF FIBRIN BY CARMINE FIBRIN METHOD

  • To 5 ml of the ferment solution add 5 ml of 0.4% HCl, then divide it into 2 parts, A and B.
  • Boil the content of tube ‘B’ for few minutes and cool. To tube ‘A’ and ‘B’ add few pieces of carmine fibrin.
  • Place the tubes in a water bath at 37°C for 10 minutes. Shake well and observe the colour of fibrin.
  • In ‘A’ it will be red due to the proteolytic activity. In “B” it will be almost colourless, due to enzyme denaturation.
