  • Has a prominent proboscis like rostellum with 3-4 rows of spirally arranged rose-thorn shaped hooks.
  • Suckers are unarmed.
Mature segments
  • Have 2 sets of genitalia with bilateral genital pore
  • Testes are many and restricted to the middle of segments.
  • Vitelline glands are present below the ovaries.
  • Branched ovaries and vitelline glands together appear like bunch of grapes on either side of the mature segments.
Gravid segments
  • They are characteristically cucumber seed shaped
  • Show numerous large sized egg packets or capsules, each containing 4-20 eggs.
