  • Size : 0.25-0.9 x 0.05 cm.
  • Smallest tapeworm.
  • Body consists of only 4 segments.
  • The last one being gravid segment and measuring nearly half the length of the parasite.
  • Other morphological characters of the segments are similar to that of Taenia spp.

  • Thick cuticular layer.
  • Thin embryonic (or) germinal layer enclosing brood capsules and daughter cysts in which several scolices develop.
  • In man hydatid cyst may even be present in bone marrow
