  • Imidacloprid-chloronicotinyl insecticide - a synthesized chlorinated derivative of nicotine,. It specifically binds to nicotinic acetyl choline receptors in the insects CNS leading to inhibition of cholinergic transmission resulting in paralysis and death [ nicotine has similar mode of action]
  • Favorable toxicity of imidocloprid is because it seems to bind to Ach receptors of insects and has no effect on these receptors in mammals. Used as spot on for dogs and cats to protect against fleas
