  • The posture (found hanging almost perpendicular to the surface of water)
  • The prominent round head having a pair of brushes and eyes and the mouth parts
  • Unsegmented thorax
  • Nine segmented slender abdomen ending in two pairs of gills
  • Dorsal surface of the 8th segment bearing a long and narrow cylindrical siphon tube which has a respiratory function
  • Short pecten on the siphon tube
  • Dorsal and ventral brushes on the 9th segment. Comb (spines) on the 8th segment
