PRE-SLAUGHTER HANDLING OF LIVE BIRDS

  • The conditions during few hours prior to catching and transportation are very important for better carcass yield and good quality of carcass.
  • Catching and handling will cause stress to broilers.
  • Most causes of downgrading observed at slaughter will have occurred during the period when the birds were being caught and handled. Therefore necessary precautions are required.
